'Obvious star quality' - Jazzwise

Imagine a cross between Ivan Lins and Tim Garland - Jim Gold fuses a groovy modern Bossa Nova sound with intriguing English jazz harmony and soaring, singable melodies.

Jim Gold is a London-based saxophonist and composer who has performed at Ronnie Scott’s with his own quartet, The Skelton/Skinner Big Band, The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, The Callum Au Big Band, and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra, in which he played lead alto. He has also appeared in Jasper Høiby's 'Fellow Creatures', Brandon Allen’s sextet, Gareth Lockrane’s Big Band, and Pete Long’s ‘Jazz at the Philharmonic’.

Saxophonist Jim Gold and pianist Will Barry have been playing together for over a decade. They have appeared together in groups as varied as Jasper Høiby's Fellow Creatures and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra. They are joined on these recordings by Conor Chaplin (Dinosaur, Flying Machines) and Will Glaser (Fabled, Mafarowi), completing a pulsating and propulsive rhythm section.
